Donations
Monetary and In-Kind
As a 501(c)3 non-profit, donations – monetary and in-kind, small and large – are the lifeblood of the Restored BN Depot and World War II Museum. General donations support Museum daily operations, programing and maintenance. Special donations are used to match grants for renovations and improvements. All donations are welcome and gratefully received.
Monetary Donations
The Museum’s exists thankfully because of the generous donations from loyal supporters and Museum visitors. Every donation – no matter the amount – makes a difference. Ways to donate:
- Cash donations given during a Museum visit.
- Annual donation by check or cash: Make checks payable to Save Our Depot, Inc.; mail to 305 S. Second St, Red Oak, IA 51566.
- Annual donation by credit card: Contact Jolene Crawford, Treasurer, at 712-621-9099 to arrange payment.
- Monthly donation: Set up an auto-debit through your bank account. Contact Jolene Crawford, Treasurer, at 712-621-9099 for routing information.
- Make a donation in your will. If you choose to include the Red Oak Depot Museum in your will, the Board of Directors would appreciate knowing your plans, so they can extend an acknowledgement of appreciation.

- Five sponsorships available annually; one for each of the Museum Galleries:

In-Kind Donations
Throughout the year the Museum seeks assistance with ongoing and special projects. Many local businesses have generously donated special skills, materials and services to defray the cost of these projects. If you or your business would like to donate in-kind services, the Museum will acknowledge your donations on the website and social media. The Museum can use help with the following services:
- Landscaping and lawn care – mowing, trimming, weeding, mulch, etc.
- Periodic cleaning services – dusting displays, cleaning the kitchen, mopping wood floors, vacuuming carpet, windows washing (outside & inside), and other seasonal cleaning
- Mannequin stands for World War II uniform exhibits
- Enter donation/artifact data into an Excell spreadsheet
Become A Volunteer
Volunteers are the backbone of the Museum’s day-to-day operations. Volunteers provide a broad range of assistance that makes the Museum a welcoming place to visit and a great event venue for our community.
Our Museum is looking for 20 or more new volunteers to fill the following roles:
- Daily docents – Volunteer one day per week for 2-3 hours (Monday – Saturday), greet visitors, show visitors the various galleries and answer questions. Docents will receive an orientation and training on the Museum exhibits and services.
- Weekly housekeepers – Volunteer 2-3 hours each week to help with basic cleaning services, such as dusting, vacuuming, bathroom cleaning, etc.
- Document cataloging and preservation
- Exhibit and artifact rotation, organization and display
- Landscape maintenance – weeding, raking and keeping outdoor campus neat and clean
- Program developers and presenters – create programs for school field tours; create adult special topics programs; and create special family programs or tours to build Museum traffic throughout the year
- Social media management
